I love to educate because whenever I'm trying to convey a concept, I become very empathetic towards my listener(s) and am able to naturally assess the best way for them to understand the concept. It's a great feeling!
The thing is, it took me a long time for me to grasp math and science related concepts when I was in high school. It wasn't until my college career that I really started to understand my coursework and was able to perform well on tests (and was subsequently able to transfer to UCLA).
I would consider myself 'a slow' learner. This is typically a negative trait to have, but I believe it's advantageous when trying to convey an academic concept because it allows me to really 'break things down' for the listener. I'm able to recall the difficulty I had in acquiring the concept (from when I first learned it myself) which allows me the patience necessary to explain whatever I need to in a step by step, logical manner.
Basically, learning information didn't just "click" for me and I never expect it to for whomever I'm teaching either. There's a learning process that must happen that I'm well aware of now--a process that I am now able to apply in my teaching methods.
Feel free to contact me anytime and we can set up a session!
