I am a semi-retired science educator with a Ph.D. in Geological Science and Integrative Biology. I have been tutoring for many years and specialize in Chemistry and Biology. My interest in student learning never wanes and I enjoy opening up the world of science to new learners. Conceptual thinking is at the root of all science. It is also a skill for which more and more state curricula are leaning.
It is difficult to state all my qualification is a short profile. But I think it is my enthusiasm and joy get from helping students to break down barriers of understanding to a find a greater confidence. I have been a university professor at University of Texas at Austin and California State University Sacramento (CSUS). In addition I have a teaching credential and have taught in the "public" school environment.
I prefer to stay within a short radius from where I live. this is to ensure I have more time to reach as many students as possible.
I will drive to your home, meet at a coffee shop, or meet at a public library. However, if the potential student is under 18 years of age I do require and adult to be present. I hope to hear from you. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
