Education
B.A. in Psychology, paralegal certificate, J.D, NJ State Bar License
I love the English language in its American form despite, or perhaps even because of, its idiosyncrasies in spelling, pronunciation, and grammatical construction. I have found that an attention to detail coupled with an awareness of the nuances of both the written and spoken word increase one's command of the language and promote excellent communication skills throughout one's schooling and life.
While my education includes a B.A. in Psychology, the completion of a paralegal program post-grad, and a law degree and license, I chose to raise a family full-time instead of practicing law. In the past I have substitute taught in several area independent schools and gained considerable experience through the college level in proofreading a wide variety of school papers and newspaper articles, assisting with homework and school projects, and helping students develop effective study strategies. I always model correct grammar and believe in gently but consistently correctimg that of my students.
Another interest of mine is accent reduction for non-native speakers, especially adults who speak English but want to lessen their accent so they will be better understood in the workplace and in social settings. Rest assured: Confidentiality and patience are the rule!
