Education
Stanford undergrad. Ranked 1st in my graduating class at Rickards High School (Tallahassee, FL) with a 4.0 GPA.
My math tutoring philosophy in a nutshell: "Mathematics is the ART of EXPLANATION." --- I also teach clarinet lessons, having turned down offers from top music schools in favor of attending Stanford University.
Psychological research has shown that intelligence arises from connections within the brain. My high level of experience in both math and music has profoundly influenced my learning, thinking, and teaching--to the benefit of the many students I have tutored.
In high school, I smashed the boundaries of my school's math curriculum while actively participating in the math-competition scene. When I graduated at the top of my class, I had completed not only AP Calculus BC and IB Mathematics HL, but also Calculus 3, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra courses at FSU, all with top grades and exam scores. In addition, I attended many math competitions and served as an officer in the Florida Student Association of Mathematics.
In various capacities, I have studied clarinet with many teachers--from doctoral candidates to clarinet professors at respected music schools, to professional orchestral clarinetists at the top of their field. Armed with their instruction, I have gone on to score top positions at All-State for five consecutive years, perform as a concerto soloist with a professional orchestra, and participate in many ensembles and music festivals. This past summer, I received the Stanley Drucker Award for exemplary performance at the Buffet Clarinet Academy (a workshop in which 20 clarinetists ages 18-26 are selected to study with world-renowned clarinetists including Stanley Drucker, retired principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic).

The quote I used above is from an online article by mathematician Paul Lockhart. It has governed the way I think about mathematics ever since I read it.
