Education
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology-Psychology from the University of New Brunswick.
The most important thing to know about me is that I love working with children and it shows. You can trust that I will dedicate myself to the success of your child. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing a child succeed at something they truly struggled with.
I have homeschooled my two children since 2002. My son was homeschooled until he entered the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a highly selective specialized high school in Northern Virginia. He is now a student at at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science. I continue to homeschool my 13 year old daughter.
My most treasured memories are of teaching both my children to read, knowing the great gift of reading is a fundamental building block to a successful life.
I have worked with other children for seven years as a robotics coach and a coach for Destination Imagination. I love the thrill of watching children develop new skills, and the blossoming of self-esteem that comes with mastering those skills.
I decided to become a Barton tutor after I saw so many of my friends' dyslexic children succeed with the Barton system. One of my first students was my own nephew!
I have been using the system as a tutor since February, 2017. I have loved caring for, educating and working with children for my entire adult life, and I will dedicate myself completely to the success of your child, using a proven, evidence-based system to teach dyslexic children to read and spell.
