I want to be a tutor because I love learning. I have enjoyed working with my professors at Hollins, as they passed on their love of literature and writing to me, and I want to pass that love on to others. I especially enjoy working one-on-one with children, as they I think they have a special exuberance and imagination that particularly benefits from the field of English.       I have taken many classes in creative and analytical writing, and have a large knowledge base of both forms.       I  have a broad knowledge of literature, having  taken many classes in British, American, Irish, and Children's lit.      I was selected by the English department to write a Senior English Honors thesis, and worked all senior year on the completion of a novel.       I am a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honors Society.       * I have a love of reading. Particularly classics such as Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, and Henry James.      * My favorite poet is Seamus Heaney.      * I love to write, particularly about Ireland.       *Traveling is one of my favorite things to do: I've been to Ireland, lived in London for a semester, and traveled to Scotland, Paris, Portugal, and the English countryside.       * I love drinking tea. And I enjoy using loose leaf tea to create new blends.       * Coffee. Can coffee be a hobby? Yes. It is one of my favorite things.
